The Sons of Confederate Veterans in Hillsborough County are planning a site that will raise the world’s largest Confederate flag over I-75. The flag is supposed to be 50 feet by 30 feet, and the flagpole itself had to be lowered to abide by Federal Aviation regulations.

Kevin White, the sole black member of the Hillsborough County Commission, said he fears that drivers who might have planned a stop in the county will drive right through when they see the massive flag. “They might have stopped for lodging or to get something to eat,” White told ABC News. “Now they’ll say, ‘Maybe I’ll just keep driving and get out of this county altogether.’”
